WHERE IS THE REAL MONSIEUR CHRISTIAN LACROIX?

We’re presenting our new FW20 collection in collaboration with the French master and some of his most iconic friends. Three generations of “Lacroixian” models search for the artist around the city as they explore places his genius has recently passed through. Where is Monsieur Lacroix? Undoubtedly... at Desigual.

SEARCHING FOR THE REAL DEAL?

Congratulations: you’ve found him. Desigual is unravelling one of the fashion industry’s unsolved mysteries. He left the firm that still bears his name in 2009, and the celebrated French designer Monsieur Christian Lacroix now devotes his time to opera, theatre and the Mediterranean brand Desigual, a relationship that has now spanned nine years. By SS21, we will have been collaborating for ten years. “I fell in love with this company at first sight almost ten years ago, because of their atypical way of making garments for everyone, with inspirations, themes and roots that were similar to mine, and a shared passion for the colours, prints and patchwork I have always worked with. As I always say, Desigual isn’t as easy to create as it might seem. It’s a familiar vocabulary, but a language that needs to be learned and practised as often as possible; it requires a daily exchange of ideas and intuitions with the team.”

POWER TO THE FLOWERS.

Autumn-winter garments that are... “hot”, as the designer himself puts it. Spring in autumn, or summer in winter, where flowers hold the power. We are starting the journey through autumn with burnt orange tones on black, large and lush flowers, different types of patchwork, old tapestries mixed with granny’s knitwear and maximum energy. All kinds of autumn clothes, including long or short dresses, wool coats, a down coat, printed trousers, shirts and a fleece jacket, make up a collection that epitomes the joy between the flamboyant the casual.

MORE IS MORE

Our relationship with the French designer began as love at first sight. We shared our Mediterranean character, unique styles and the passion we put into everything we create. “I have always said that I am everything and its opposite. Optimistic and pessimistic, shy and courageous, in love with all things sophisticated and refined and, at the same time, with all things vulgar and popular. Wise and crazy, lazy and a workaholic, gluttonous and Zen... I always prefer water freezing cold or scorching hot rather than lukewarm.”
Much is still to come. This long-standing collaboration (of almost 10 years) has given us some great moments that we’ll be taking a look at soon. If you’re searching for the famous French designer Monsieur Christian Lacroix... he’s at Desigual :)

HAND IN HAND WITH ANH, VLADA AND NYARACH.

We’re proud to be presenting his new collaboration alongside iconic models like Anh Duong – “She’s the embodiment of the girl I imagined when I designed my couture collections, with her character, intelligence, certain classy allure, language, sense of humour, extraordinary demeanour, half-Spanish and half-Asian, undeniable elegance,” – and Vlada Roslyakova – “We’ve walked together a few times, she was my last bride in July 2019 with a dress inspired by the Macarena pattern that marked the end of my career as a couturier.” We also have a new muse on board, Nyarach Abouch, from South Sudan, with a cheerful elegance and captivating strength, who represents both the styles of Desigual and the French designer Monsieur Christian Lacroix. Three generations that embody the woman for whom the French designer designs: “It’s not about age, nationality, season, day or night. It’s about pleasure, charm, the joy of wearing something you love because it fits you, not just your body and silhouette, but your personality and mood, regardless of the time of year, because it’s always easy to wear.”
